What Is the 
Order of the Eastern Star?

An Adoptive Masonic organization.

The organization was founded in 1857. Membership is limited to Masons, their spouses, and female relatives.

 Meetings require the presence of a Mason in order to open and transact business.

 The presiding body is a Chapter, and the presiding female and male officers are a Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron.
